# 1638  Saturday: Quarter Finals

Geneva (#3) beat Brighton (#2) 17-6 and Waterloo (#3) beat Aquinas (#2) in the B/C tournament. In the Class A bracket, all of the higher seeded teams won, setting up the semi final round on Tuesday at Aquinas (Class A) and Irondequoit (Class B/C).

# 1631  Monday: Last Day (Almost)

Pittsford beat R-H today and will host Thomas on Tuesday, but the rest of the teams in Section Five are now finished with the regular season. Penfield dodged the bullet again today with a one goal win at Fairport and completed their regular season undefeated. Canandaigua finished with a win taking them to 16-1 with their only loss to Baldwinsville. Brighton finished with a win over Gates Chili and lost only to HF-L (twice) to end their season at 14-2. HF-L finished with a win over Hilton and lost only to Schroeder this season.

It was all it was cracked up to be. Two good teams fighting it out, each needing a win, but with only team able to come out on top. Today it was Penn Yan over host Fairport 10-8 an a game that went right down to the wire.

Honeoye Falls-Lima improved their record to 4-0 with a night game win at host Brighton, 17-5. After building a 5-3 lead in the first, the Cougars exploded in the second with 8 goals to Brighton's 1 to end the half up 13-3. Seven different players contributed to the 17 goals, 11 of which were assisted (65%).

There was lots of action in Section Five today as seven games were played on the last day of March. Victor had a one goal win over visiting Pal-Mac as senior attackman Cory Benulis scored the game winner with 3:59 left. Pal-Mac dominated the first half with ball control and patience. Victor stayed in the game with defensive performances by sophomore Tim Gallahan and senior middie Tim Rose.

Because of the hospitality of Irondequoit High School and Nazareth College, seven games were played on synthetic turf today that probably would not have been played on home field grass. As a result more than 350 players and their fans enjoyed a cold but clear and sunny day with a number of great opening day efforts.
